Target ripping people off?...If you shop at Target with coupons, you must read this...

There's an article that's been circulating through the Freebie/Savings posts about Target ripping people off with the way their registers figure coupons.  I guess in order to save money and not give consumers money back on coupons when the item they buy is less than the coupon, they have set their registers to adjust the coupon down to the purchase price.  OK, I think I understand that (although doesn't Target still get the full amount back from the manufacturer?), but when the coupon requires you to buy more than one of the item to get the money off, the register is still adjusting the coupon.

An example cited in the article is a coupon for $4 off when you buy 10 Weight Watchers meals.  The cost of an individual WW item was $1.99, but when you buy 10 you are obviously over the $4 coupon and should receive the full $4.  The register adjusted the coupon down to $1.99.

If you catch it, the cashier or customer service will fix it, but most people don't (or figure it's not worth the effort to fix it).... so Target is getting the full amount back from the manufacturer for the coupon and the consumer is getting cheated!

So folks, keep an eye on the register at Target if you're using coupons and share this with your friends who shop at Target.  I'll post any updates I find on this.
